About Us

Mission

The Delaware General Health District is “dedicated to fostering, protecting and improving the health and the environment of our residents and our community.” It is our goal to create “Healthy People, Healthy Habits in Healthy Communities,” as we strive to make Delaware the best community in which to live, work and play.

Our Success

Delaware County has been ranked the Healthiest County in Ohio in 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 based on a study conducted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

Who We Are

The Delaware General Health District is a Combined Health District, serving Delaware County (except portions annexed to Westerville, Columbus, and Dublin), Delaware City and Powell. The Delaware General Health District is operated under the authority of State Law and the adoption of local regulations and resolutions which are voted on by your Board of Health, following community input.

What We Do

Whether sharing information on normal baby growth, safety and nutrition, hosting free immunization clinics or granting an operational permit for a household sewage treatment system, it’s in these and other ways that the Delaware General Health District is “dedicated to fostering, protecting and improving the health and the environment of our residents and our community.”
