DELAWARE, Oh. โ Since the initial Age-Friendly Delaware County Assessment began in 2018, significant progress has been made in improving the quality of life for older adults in our community. Today, we are releasing a new report based on a resurvey conducted by SourcePoint and the Delaware Public Health District. This report will serve as a vital tool for guiding program planning over the coming years by highlighting key strengths and identifying areas for improvement in services for aging adults in Delaware County.
In 2023, the initiative entered a new phase with a resurvey of older adults. The updated survey tool featured 59 questions across seven sections and was mailed to 1,500 randomly selected registered voters aged 55 and older. The survey process was thoroughly reviewed and approved by the Ohio Department of Health Institutional Review Board.
The final dataset, which includes 427 valid responses and represents a 21% response rate, has been analyzed to provide a detailed snapshot of older residents’ experiences and needs. This data, presented through a mix of graphs, percentages, and qualitative comments, will guide further enhancements in our age-friendly initiatives.
“We thank all participants for their valuable input and look forward to continuing our efforts to make Delaware County a model of age-friendly living,” said Jen Keagy, Delaware Public Health District Deputy Health Commissioner.
