Here is a quick rundown of the spray we use to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases:
The spray used is called DUET adulticide. It is made by a company called Clarke based in Chicago.
Mosquito spray droplets are calibrated to a size that they fall to the ground within 15 minutes or so and start breaking down immediately with exposure to air and then sunlight.
Application rate is 1oz per acre, so think a shot glass for an area the size of a football field. Only 11% of that is active ingredient.
DUET has pyrethroids as active ingredient, same class as lice shampoo, your dogs flea collar and clothes that are sold pre-treated to repel bugs at outdoor stores.
Clarke confirmed it is fine to spray with current air quality alerts and will have no impact on the air quality. Please follow current air quality precautions by the Ohio Department of Health.
If you are concerned, please fill out the do not spray request form by 12pm on the day of spraying: https://arcg.is/1Cy1fb1
