Delaware, Oh. – Delaware City Schools and Olentangy Schools will join schools from around the U.S. to celebrate National Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022. 

Delaware City School students from Carlisle, Conger, Shultz, Smith and Woodward Elementary Schools and Olentangy School students from Alum Creek and Tyler Run Elementary Schools will be celebrating “National Walk to School Day” with parents, teachers and community leaders starting at 8:00am. 

Walk to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. 

The event is being organized by Delaware Public Health District’s Community Health Division with support from the Delaware Police Department, Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office and Powell Police.
