The Delaware General Heath District hold screenings using the BioSway to help participants learn, understand and prevent a fall through this computerized balance assessment.

These free eight-week classes are offered for Delaware County residents ages 60 or older throughout the year.

The Matter of Balance classes will teach you different non-strenuous exercises that will help improve your balance. You will have the opportunity to talk about with peers about your experiences and learn ways to reduce the fear of falling.

Any home can be made safer which is even more important as we age. Home safety checks can help you make your home safer, allowing you to continue living independently.

The appointments generally last between 1 and 1.5 hours and include a health screening with our registered nurse and a home assessment. Upon completion of the home safety check up you will receive a tool kit that includes items that can make your home fall proof.

DGHD works closely with the SourcePoint to provide home modifications on a sliding fee scale based on need.

The coalition is comprised of more than 20 agencies located within Delaware County to address the prevention of falls for all citizens aged 65 or older.
